Pericles
by William Shakespeare, presented by the UA School of Theatre Arts, Arizona Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.)
Season Sponsors: The Harris   Now Available  on DVD Pericles was a unique show to ART.  The entire stage was originally going to be coated with 1" of sand.  Due to weight considerations, the shakespeare doors were turned into sanddunes.  The mainstage ship wreck had to be structural enough to support the entire ensemble.  The "Tidal" step was created with stress skin platforms, which became the basis for our stock platforms.  All fabrics were custom to mimic sailcloth.  The DS two pairs of curved legs were tracked to allow for movement on and off stage and to mimic billowing sails in the sailing sequences.  The main cyc was rear projected upon and used for shadow play.
